The New York Times has reported that three men were killed at an apartment complex near the campus in Auburn, Ala on Sunday. According to the news, police has said that Edward Christian, 20, and Ladarious Phillips, 20 killed in shooting were also the former football players of Auburn university. The third person has been identified as Demario Pitts, who died after not sustaining serious injuries.
The local media reported that dispute started over a woman that eventually escalate to the violence costing the lives of three and leaving three wounded at a pool party at an off-campus housing complex called University Heights. The incident of shooting has shaken the Auburn, known best for its vigour football team.
The President, Jay Gogue of Auburn university expressed his deep grief over the incident: “We’re deeply saddened about last night’s tragic events that impacted the Auburn community and the Auburn family. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the victims and their families. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We’re in constant contact with area authorities and will continue to assist in any way possible. Our attention is now focused on providing care and support to those touched by this tragedy.”
Mr. Phillips, Mr. Christian and Mr. Mack were reported as the students of same recruiting class 2010. According to the football coach , Mr. Battles, Mr. Chistian and Mr. Mack, they both were country's elite offensive line prospects when they arrived at Auburn.
When asked about Mr. Phillip, he said Mr. Phillip was a gifted athelete. Paying his condolence he added : "We all expected great things out of him. It’s just a tragedy. I have no other way to describe it. I just expected great things from him, and I think most people that saw him did. Now we’re not going to know.”
Police has been searching the suspect killer and two other persons of interest who appear to be involved in shooting.
