Novak Djokovic Smashes Racquet Against Chair in 2012 French Open final

IT is the French Open final and it is the one we all expected to be despite Roger Federer brushing aside top players on tour, could not hold off word no.1 Novak Djokovic. So it comes down to a Nadal Djokovic showdown.

It is now the 5th consecutive grand slam final between the two world class players and Djokovic has won the last three and Nadal wining just the one. It would be a dream come true for the Serbian if he can pull this one off but the Spain factor is too much to handle for the Serb who, according to the tennis pundits is already an underdog going into the final. But they are also aware of the fact that the semi final success against Roger Federer, has motivated Djokovic big time to earn the title.

The game began as expected, Nadal taking the first set 6-4, but the Serbian did try to come back but only gave in after the second set was drawn at 3-3 all and later lost the set to the Spaniard, Nadal winning this one by six games to three.

Almost all the match was played in light rain but it was highly speculated that the weather was not fit to play a final and would be better off to take it to Monday. But both the players made it to the court on time and there was light drizzle throughout.

It was in the third set where Djokovic showed why he is number 1 in the world when he broke Nadal and took the set 2 games to six. The Spaniard has been broken serve just once in the whole tournament and not losing a single set until today.

The fourth set was hit by heavy rain when the game was suspended, Spaniard still leading the final by 2 sets to 1 and fourth being still played. The only thing that stands between the two players ending the match is the rain now.

Djokovic is aiming to achieve a career grand slam by winning his maiden French Open title and Nadal is aiming to surpass his record of 6 French titles by winning a 7th and putting his name amongst the legends in the history books of this great game of tennis.
