John and his sons were digging in their backyard in Oskaloosa , Iowa a couple of years back when they came across this mammoth find – it was a huge bone, a bone of a mammoth, the huge elephants that roamed the world in the Ice Age.
This has been reported in news.com.au date 7th of June 2012.
John contacted experts to obtain clarifications on this unusual find in his backyard and researchers from the University of Iowa have confirmed the density of the bone.
It was the original femur of a mammoth.
Since then their team has unearthed the vertebrae and ribs of the mammoth and John is stuck with these finds.
For now, he has kept these in his living room but as more and more pieces are being dug up, and since these are in his own property, they belong to him – his worry is how to preserve the treasure.
Should he add more rooms to his house and convert it into a museum?
