Recently, there was news in the media of a cat named Sponge Bob that weighed 33-lbs, now another cat Garfield of Long Island has broken that record – Garfield weighs 40-lbs. Dieting does not agree with him. He loves to eat and loll about.
Sponge Bob has to make way for Garfield, the new record holder.
This has been reported in mailonline dated the 5th of June 2012.
Poor Garfield, now an orphan after his master died, was brought in to the North Shore Animal League of America in Port Washington, Long Island.
The staff of the shelter put him on a low-calorie diet and cut out all dry food to make him lose weight but to no avail.
The animal league is now looking for a foster home for this giant feline. He is healthy no doubt but has difficulties in moving – such an effort takes a toll of his leg muscles.
