Manila, Philippines - Gastronomics will savor the taste of an all-Filipino menu when they do restaurant hopping during the 10-day celebration of the 114th Philippine Independence Day on June 10-20.In a press release sent to Allvoices, the Department of Tourism (DoT) and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP) said it’s part of the Filipino Food Festival for 10 days in Metro Manila and other major cities in the Philippines. Dubbed as “Kulinarya Kalayaan,” (Freedom Cuisine), this Philippine Food Festival will feature a sumptuous array of Filipino food that were believed to have been regarded as some of the favorite dishes of our national heroes like Dr. Jose Rizal, Gat Andres Bonifacio, Apolinario Mabini, and Juan Luna, to name a few. According to the Department of Toursim, Filipino Food Connoisseurs and Food Expert Mila Enriquez will provide information on the favorite dishes of other Filipino heroes and wrap on how Filipino food was prepared in different eras of Philippine history. These dishes will include the “Pampagana” (appetizer) such as “Ensalada” and “Piritong Lumpia”, the “Ulam” (main dish) like “Sinigang”, “Adobo”, “Kare-Kare” and Bicol Express, the “Meryenda” like Pansit Malabon and Pansit Hab-hab, and the “Panghimagas” such as Leche Flan, Ube, “Suman sa Lihiya” and “Sapin-sapin” and more. Kulinarya Kalayaan will be joined by 15 famous hotels and restaurants in the country including Makati Shangri-la, Century Park Hotel, Waterfront, Hyatt Hotel Manila, LJC, Bellevue, Bayview Park Hotel, Illustrado, Harbor view, Bacolod Inasal, Serye and Tamayo’s. The event, opening on a weekend, encourage food lovers, young and old, to come to these restaurants and hotels to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience together with 25 various events to provide culture, history, music and festive mood for this year’s June 12 celebration. Through this food festival, the public will be able to savor the taste of our national heroes’ favorite dishes in appreciation of their role in the development of the Philippine Independence.
