Earlier this year, NBC planned on a series based on Hannibal Lecter, the cannibal doctor created by best-selling author Thomas Harris and greatly portrayed on the big screen by Sir Anthony Hopkins. But they had a very hard time finding the perfect actor to portray the dark character on the small screen.
Well now, NBC seems to have found their cannibal. The new version of Hannibal will be portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen. Mikkelsen is best known for his role as the villainous Le Chiffre in Casino Royale. He was also in Clash of the Titans, The Three Musketeers and the upcoming Thor 2.
Mads will be joining Hugh Dancy in the series. Dancy will be playing a younger version of FBI agent Will Graham, which was portrayed by Edward Norton in Red Dragon. The series will follow Graham as he and Lecter solve crimes together. These events will then lead up to the events depicted in Red Dragon. Thirteen episodes have already been ordered by NBC. Let’s hope this will be a series that will not be easily cancelled like NBC’s The Playboy Club, Awake and Prime Suspect.
