The Miss America 2012 beauty pageant was recently held in Las Vegas and the winner fort this year is Miss Rhode Island, Olivia Culpo
This year in the Miss America 2012 beauty pageant, Miss Rhode Island took the lead as she was named the winner of the competition. Miss Rhode Island is 20-year-old cellist by the name of Olivia Culpo and she took the crown after dazzling the judges with her good looks, great body and confidence. She is a trained cellist and plays the instrument really well.
Miss Rhode Island, Olivia Cuplo will be representing USA, in the Miss Universe pageant later this year, and it is being hoped that she will bring the crown home. Olivia Cuplo became Miss America, after beating 51 other contestants and she was quite enthralled to hear her name being called out as the winner.
The Miss America 2012 pageant took place on Sunday at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas strip. The judge's panel included chef Cat Cora, TV personality Arsenio Hall, singer Joe Jones and reality TV star Rob Karsashian. The hosts of Miss America 2012 were Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic.
Miss America 2012 has three categories in which the contestants are judged; the bikini round, the evening gown round and the question-answer session. In both the bikini and evening gown categories, Olivia Cuplo wore a purple attire. In the first round, Cuplo strutted on the stage wearing a purple bikini and later a purple evening gown with a sparkly belt. During the question answer round, she was dealt the most difficult question; would it be fair for a person born a man to be named Miss Universe after becoming a woman? To this question, Olivia Cuplo answered that she fully embraced the organizers' decision to let transgender participate and added; ‘I do think that would be fair. But I could understand how people could be apprehensive to take that road.’
Olivia Cuplo also shocked the people by revealing that as a girl she was short and chubby, but that she later blossomed after her growth years. She also said that during the summers, instead of focusing and fretting over her looks, she attended a band camp and devoted much of her time to the cello.
When Olivia Cuplo was announced as the winner of Miss America 2012, Miss America 2011, Alyssa Campanella came on the stage to crown her successor.
