The 2012 MTV Movie Awards opened with a performance from fun. And Janelle Monet with “We are Young”.
This year, broadcasting from Los Angeles, the Awards are hosted by actor Russell Brand. Justin Bieber, short celebrity marriages, and sex tapes were the topics of Brand’s monologue. Brand solicited the aid of fellow bad bpy actor Charlie Sheen to come to Brand’s aid if he did something stupid on the stage.
The first bucket of golden popcorn trophy of the evening was for the Best On-Screen Dirtbag Award. And the winner was Jennifer Anniston in “Horrible Bosses”.
Emma Watson and Andrew Garfield from “The Amazing Spider Man” presented the award for Breakthrough Performance to Shailene Woodley in “The Descendants”.
The award for the Best Male Performance went to Josh Hutcherson in “The Hunger Games”.
The award for Best Female Performance went to Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games”.
“Project X” was named the greatest party movie of all time and an instant classic.
Hip-Hop artist Wiz Khalifa performed.
The Best Music Award went to LMFAO for their hit song “Party Rock Anthem” that appeared on “21 Jump Street”.
The award for Best Kiss went to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – part 1”
Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from the rock band Aerosmith presented the Generation Award to Johnny Depp for his wide span of iconic roles that included his early days on the television show “21 Jump Street”, “Edward Scissorhands”, “Sweeny Todd”, as Capt. Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, and his latest role as Barnabas Collins in the movie “Dark Shadows”. Playing the electric guitar, Depp, who has a love for music’ joined The Black Keys on stage for a performance.
The winner for the Best Fight Award went to Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Alexander Ludwig in “The Hunger Games”.
The Best Cast Award winner went to Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Tom Felton in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part 2”
The Best Hero Award winner went to Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Halows: part 2”
The winner of the Best On Screen Transformation Award went to Elizabeth Banks in “The Hunger Games”
The inaugural MTV Trailblazer Award went to Emma Stone.
Cast members from “The Dark Knight” presented a preview clip from the new movie “The Dark Knight Rises” making its way into theaatres this summer.
Jodie Foster presented the winner of the fan voted Movie of the Year Award to “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – part 1”.
