Phoenix police arrested a 19-year old mother after her five-week old son fell off the car, strapped in a child safety seat was found in the middle of the road in Phoenix on Saturday. The child was unharmed and is now under the custody of state Child Protective Services, according to media reports on Saturday.

Catalina Clouser was charged with child abuse and aggravated assault. Reuters reported that her boyfriend was also arrested and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence while driving with the baby.

According to this report, Clouser and her boyfriend had been smoking marijuana in a park and later left the baby to buy beer. Cops also learned that an upset Clouser went to her friend’s house, where she admitted to smoking more marijuana.

Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes said in a statement that the teenage mother left her friend’s house on Friday midnight forgetting that the baby was on the car’s roof and sleeping.

When Clouser arrived home, it was then when she realized the baby was missing. She called on her friends for help. When her friends saw the baby with the police, Clouser arrived at the scene and she was arrested.
