Snow White & the Huntsman - Charlize Theron Featurette (2012) HD Movie

In a recent interview, Charlize Theron spoke about her role as the evil queen in “Snow White and the Huntsman” that hits theaters on June 1. Theron said she found it challenging to find the human behind the dark character of the Queen, who can go to any extent to be the fairest in the whole land.

Talking to OnTheRedCarpet, Theron discussed the new character she plays and the costumes she wears in the movie.

"I think the reason why I really wanted to do it was because I saw a lot of potential in finding the human within a character that's become very iconic for just being one thing and that's being evil," Theron said. "I like that challenge."

The big budget film is filled with visual flare. The action sequences are thrilling and the British settings are breathtaking. Besides Theron as the evil queen, it stars "Twilight Saga" actress Kristen Stewart as the Snow White and Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman sent by the evil queen to kill Snow White and bring her heart to her. The power hungry queen steals youth and beauty from her subjects by sucking life out of them. The huntsman turns against the queen and ends up teaching the princess to protect herself.

"I was really excited to kind of, in a way, almost work backwards and get to a place of understanding these were the crossroads, this is where it all went wrong," Theron said. "So now I understand why she's behaving the way she does."

The Oscar-winning actress said the subtle accent she speaks in the movie also helped her understand the queen’s character and she tried to do it as authentically as possible. The actress complimented efforts of the costume designers, saying that while the costumes were not always comfortable, they looked great and were easy to move in.

“We should have such an appreciation for costume designers, because not only do they have to make things look exquisite but they have to be practical. We have to be able to work in them," she said. "It wasn't like wearing sweatpants. I'm not going to lie. There were days where I was like, 'Oh, not the corset today!'"
