Scandal in Power Transfer Nothing New for China

Report by JENIFERLAMUG

Amidst sharp diplomatic tension between the United States and China, another controversy is currently circulating in the media, where a suspected CIA agent of China was detained of being a spy to the US.

The suspect, who apparently worked as the secretary of a vice minister in the ministry of state security in China’s main intelligence agency, was accused by Chinese officials of giving information to the US, according to media reports on Saturday. It was not disclosed whether what kind of information was allegedly leaked and if those information compromised any operations in the country.

The New York Times said in a report that the spying detention news came at the same time after the revelation of Bo Xilai’s affair.

Meanwhile, the US has no comment yet on the matter.

"We don't have any comment. I don't know that we've had any contact with the government on it," said spokesman Mark Toner from the state department.
