Group B in the Euro 2012 has been given this event's "Group of Death" status. With the Netherlands, Germany, and Portugal in the same group, one team will be going home unhappy after the group stage. Which team will that be?
1. Germany. This team is the most balanced in Group B because there have no weaknesses. Basically, everyone that is German on Bayern Munich's club is on this squad. Schweinsteiger and Ozil make up an outstanding midfield duo, while Mario Gomez and Podolski will score plenty of goals. Plus, the German team will be hungry since the Bayern players are still stung by the Champions League Finals loss in their own home stadium.
2. Netherlands. The Netherlands will have the best offensive attack in the Euro 2012. Midfielders Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Arjen Robben, and Dirk Kuyt will set the table for forwards Robin Van Persie and Klaas Jan Huntelaar. They are very sound in goal with Stekelenburg. Netherlands could end up first in this group if they do not have any defensive lapses during the Group Stage.
3. Portugal. You would think that a country that is known for its players having an offensive flair would be so paltry on offense. If nobody helps out Cristiano Ronaldo on offense, then they will repeat their scoreless performances in the World Cup. Portugal's strength is actually on defense with Pepe and Bruno Alves. The only chance that Portugal has to advance to the quarterfinals is to control possession against Germany and Netherlands.
4. Denmark. Denmark is toast in this group. Starting world-class goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen will be out for the Euro 2012. He was Denmark's only chance at possibly securing an upset in the Group Stage.
