If I ask you which of the countries you thought would seek to no longer be a part of Great Britain, then your first response would most likely be Northern Ireland based upon past history.
However, Scotland is pushing for a referendum in the fall of 2014 to no longer be a part of the United Kingdom after 300 years. Nevertheless, there is no profitable reason that would result from becoming independent.
For example, those living in Scotland that have government or military jobs in the UK would be forced to move to Wales or England in order to retain their jobs. Scotland would lose an enormous amount of commerce from those homeowners.
Scotland would no longer receive financial support from the UK. If Scotland chose to become independent, then they would put themselves at the brink of bankruptcy. The lack of infrastructure would cause chaos throughout the country. If it's not broke, then don't fix it.
