Britain’s reigning monarch, her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and their family attended the Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup race on Derby Day on June 2, 2012 in Epsom, England.
The occasion marks only the second time in history that the United Kingdom celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of a ruling monarch.
For a day at the races, the queen wore a royal blue and white floral dress, topped off with a blue coat, a matching royal blue hat with black and white floral accents, pearl drop earrings, a three-strand pearl necklace, a jeweled brooch with diamonds and a blue sapphire on the left lapel, white gloves, black pumps and a black leather Launer handbag.
Queen Elizabeth’s sons Edward, the Earl of Wessex and Prince Andrew, the Prince of York and his daughters Princess Beatrice of York (in green and white lace) and Princess Eugenie of York (in black and white gingham checks) as well as Princess Michael of Kent were also attending and watched the action from the royal balcony at Epsom Racecourse.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating the 60th anniversary of her ascension to the throne. In addition to the races at Investec Derby, the Queen and several members of the British royal family will participate in a River Pageant with a flotilla of 1,000 boats accompanying them down the Thames, a star studded free concert at Buckingham Palace, a carriage procession and a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral.
Also attending the Investec Derby rather stylishly were actress– in tails and top hat no less – and singer Katherine Jenkins who donned a strapless white gown to perform the national anthem and later a flirtatious turquoise blue dress as a spectator, meeting the Queen personally who gave her a warm smile.
Co-owner of the winning horse St Nicholas Abbey, Michael Tabor got to shake hands with Queen Elizabeth II and got his winner’s trophy from her for having won the Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup.
Congratulations to horse St Nicholas Abbey, jockey Joseph O’brien and co-owner Michael Tabor on their win! Enjoy the slide show…
