Brits are agog as the British monarch prepares for her Diamond Jubilee, which in-fact has already commenced. It marks a remarkable reign that began whenfirst ascended the British throne at the age of 25 in 1952, which has gone on to last six decades.
While undoubtedly the Queen is the Star of the jubilee celebrations taking place all over UK and other parts of the world, all eyes will be transfixed on the latest royal entrant, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Duchess Kate is already a global celebrity, and she too will be taking center stage alongside Queen, but looks like the lady will upstage the monarch in popularity. Meanwhile, as Queen Elizabeth gets ready for her Diamond Jubilee in Britain, a series of events are planned kick-starting this weekend from June 2 to June 5, 2012.
What is interesting to note is that as the Queen marks her 60 years on the throne (amazing isn’t it), all eyes will most likely be on her granddaughter-in-law, Duchess Kate, the most admired and widely discussed British royal in present times.
But wouldn’t it be wonderful to know about the royals, the Queen, Duchess Kate and Prince William among others, from someone who has met them and knows them? Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is one such lady.Blair, the spouse of former British Prime Minister and founder of the
Cherie Blair was game to respond to some queries on the Duchess of Cambridge put forth by the Chief Correspondent of iVillage, Kelly Wallace. When asked about what she thought about, the former first lady said “I think she is doing a terrific job” and when asked what Duchess Catherine has meant to the image of the royals in England, Cherie opined “It’s nice to see a new generation coming up.”
On the touchy topic of whether Pippa’s indiscretions (recently she was with a friend apparently pointing a gun at a photographer) would adversely impact her reputation at home, Cherie actually empathized saying “What I can say is that being in the public eye myself, I know it’s quite difficult for anyone to manage.”
Last one was the million dollar question about the royal baby watch, with Prince William recently telling ABC’s Katie Couric that he was “eager” to have a family and that he and Duchess Kate were both looking forward to having children in the future.
When Kelly Wallace asked Cherie Blair, whether the Brits were speculating about the royal baby-to-be as much as Americans are doing, the mother of four responded: “You don’t want to put pressure on anyone …. These things will come in time,” she added wisely.
