Alexander Kinyua, a 21-year-old college student who was accused of killing a housemate told police he ate the victim's heart and part of his brain after he died. Kinyua secretly hid the head and hands of the dead man who was identified as Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, 37, in his family’s basement laundry room in a suburb of Baltimore, Harford County Sheriff’s Office said.
Earlier in May Kinyua, a Kenya native and an engineering student at Morgan State University, was charged in another attack in which the victim was brutally beaten but survived. He was charged with first-degree murder and other charges in the death of Kodie, a native of Ghana and was ordered held on no bail.
The body parts that has been found were not officially identified but the chief medical examiner believe they are those of Kodie, who was missing since May 25. Kodie’s cellphone and wallet were left in the home and police was told he had gone for a run, sheriff’s spokeswoman Monica Worrell said.
On Tuesday, Antony Kinyua, Alex father, alerted detectives that another son of his, Jarrod, found what he thought were human remains in the house where they all lived in Joppatowne. The brother found two cans which contained a human head and two human hands. Jarrod confronted Alex who said the body parts were that of animals.
But as the father and Jarrod went down to the basement again, they found that the tin cans had disappeared and Alex was cleaning the container where the body parts were in. Detectives obtained a search warrant and found the head and hands in the house.
Kinyua admitted to killing Kodie by cutting him up with the use of a knife and also admitted that he ate his heart and part of his brain. Then he told the detectives the rest of the body could be found in a garbage can at the Town Baptist Church in Harford County where they found the rest of the body.
It was in the same week the attack occurred where a man in Miami chewed away a homeless man’s face along on a causeway ramp and wouldn’t stop until a police officer shot him to death.
