Did you know?
The United States is celebrating every first Friday of June each year as a national doughnut day. Do you crave for it? Who does not? I love doughnuts! And the good news here is some chains are doling out freebies. Get yours fella.
Today marks the 75th anniversary of the sweet celebration, an event created by The Salvation Army in 1938 in Chicago to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
Some big doughnut stores in the US are participating in the celebration. As a treat, Krispy Kreme has created an event in Facebook to give one FREE doughnut to each customer. Another is LaMar’s Donut chains in Colorado and Midwest. If you don’t want to miss the sweet deal of Dunkin’ Donuts, it is also giving FREE donut with purchase of any dunkin’ beverage. Just LIKE and print the coupon on Tim Horton’s Facebook page then claim the treat. For more, see this report.
The Salvation Army partnered with the famous Entenmann's Bakery in US to celebrate the said occasion. The bakery donated $25,000 check to the charity and also unveiled the largest box of its doughnuts, according to marketwatch.com.
A friend of mine who happened to be in New York said free coffee and doughnuts have been given to people at Madison Square Park in in the city.
You still have time to have your free doughnut.
