The sudden raining of sheep from above on the overpass below at around 9 pm took the motorists in Laverton North in Melbourne by surprise as reported in news.com.au dated 1st June 2012.
We have heard of the phrase 'raining cats and dogs' but this was another type of rain ...
It was not God’s gift falling from Heaven but sheep dropping from an overturned truck – the sheep truck with 400 animals was travelling to Geelong.
It seems the driver was unable to negotiate a bend and the truck overturned spilling the livestock all over the countryside.
The dead and injured animals hit and damaged two vehicles on the Princes Highway overpass – the occupants were not injured.
This is a problem faced on the highways, overpass and underpass – vehicles that skid or turn turtle while negotiating bends on the overpass can and do fall below on the roads causing damages and even loss of lives and property.
