Two American tourists have been kidnapped by local tribesmen of Sinai in Egypt as they were travelling from the resort of Dahab up the coast, closer to Israel.
This has been reported in bbc.com dated 31st of May 2012.
It seems the kidnapping has been done to obtain release of a drug dealer who has been arrested by the authorities.
This sort of barter of prisoners and hostages appears to be a common affair in that part of the world and the targets chosen are usually foreigners because that way it gets international attention and more than average media coverage.
The hostages are usually released once an acceptable deal is struck.
