A suspect killed five people at a cafe and in a street and later shot himself to death when the police officers were just about to arrest him
A terrible shooting spree in Seattle left six people dead, including the suspect himself. On Wednesday, two separate incidents, which initially did not seem to be connected, left a total of six people dead, spreading panic in the area. According to the details provided, a tall white man with a trim, dark beard entered a small coffee shot by the name of Cafe Racer and opened fire there. A short while later, a separate carjacking and firing incident was reported five miles away, and it was later discovered that the same man had carried the attack out.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Ian Stawicki, entered Cafe Rocker at around 11 a.m. and shot five people, out of which four have been reported dead. He then fled that cafe on foot, and half an hour later, Stawaicki had fatally shot a woman in the head and made away with her black Mercedes SUV.
After this horrific incident was reported, the police immediately issued a warning to the residents of Seattle's University District and a search began for the suspect. The residents were advised to not open their doors for any strangers and dozens of detectives, combed through the entire area to make sure that they did not miss out any spot in search for Stawicki. Most of the officers had been provided with Stawaicki's image as he stood outside the cafe, one hand on his hip, another on an object that appeared to be a gun.
After searching for him for hours, Stawicki was finally spotted by an officer at about 4:00 p.m. and he immediately called for backup. When Stawicki saw the officer approaching, he knelt down in the middle of the road and shot himself. Immediately, he was taken to Harborview Medical Center and it was confirmed later that he died there.
After the suspect was taken to the hospital, the police announced that the shootings were related and later Andrew Stawicki, his brother told the police that he wasn't surprised to hear about this incident. He told the police that his brother was mentally-ill and he had a lot of hatred bottled up in him.
The victims were taken to the hospital, and out of all the people shot, only one survived.
