Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount.

Notice the progression in the verse. First, Jacob offered a sacrifice to God. Then, he ate bread. A sacrifice doesn't mean anything unless it costs something. Offering God should be your primary focus for it to even be considered to be a sacrifice to Him.
