They both called the stones different names, but they both mean the same thing. The names mean "the heap of witness." They piled up the heap of stones as a witness before God that they made a covenant between each other.
They set this contract in stone. Nowadays, whenever you make an agreement with someone, then obtain a written contract. I don't care if you make a deal with your friends or with your relatives. Put everything in writing.
