Baton Rouge Louisiana. Casey Rayborn Hicks spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said on Monday two persons were arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man in the Castlebrook Apartments due to a drug deal that went bad.
The two persons arrested are Joshua Birchfield, 28, and a 16 year old juvenile male whose name was not revealed due to his age.
Hicks said Birchfield is in an East Baton Rouge Parish Prison booked on one count of first degree murder. The juvenile is in an East Baton Rouge detention Center on one count of prinicpal to first degree murder.
Birchfield is accused of killing Rashawn Washington, 18, during a struggle that happened around 9pm Sunday.
Hicks said Washington pointed a gun at him while Burchfield was inside his automobile. Burchfield then had a brief struggle with Washington and took the gun away from Washington. Birchfield then got out the automobile and shot Washington killing him.
Birchfield told deteectives he believes the juvenile and Washington set him up when he was purchasing codeine syrup from Washington and the juvenile.
