Anchor for Allvoices
Zakaria Azmi , his immediate family and relatives must be thankful that the sentence imposed on him is only a 7 year imprisonment and fine of $6 million for illicit profiteering.
Azmi as chief of staff of formerhad committed as much atrocities as his boss. His sentence is regarded light for the crimes he had committed with Mubarak. Good he was not sentence to die by execution.
Azmi has to serve his sentence as a part of a process of deMubarakization of Egypt. It is a process to get rid of the remnants of the oppressive Mubarak regime cuddled by a number of past U.S presidents.
The ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces is expected to largely demubarakize Egypt before it will turn-over the reign to a civilian government which the presidential elections were designed to achieve.
Who will be the next to be sentenced, Mubarak?
