Turkey is gearing up to play host to some 1,800 students from 135 countries who have already arrived for the 10th International Turkish Olympiads, which, this year, have a theme of solidarity supported by the slogan “İnsanlık için el ele” (Hand-in-hand for humanity).
PakTurk student Arsalan Nasir is already a hot topic in Turkish media for his sensational singing and dashing personality. The song he is going to present is the one originally sung by famous late singer Ahmet Kaya. Some newspapers published headings like “Ahmet Kaya is not dead; he is living in Pakistan”. Many News channels telecast his Pakistan final performance that mesmerized the audience in Islamabad.
Arsalan is not the first of PakTurk students got that fame, Shees Saeed, Muhammad Salman and Abubakar Farooqi are some other examples from last few years, who raised the green flag in international arena.
Along with Arsalan Naseer, there are other students who are competing with the world for Pakistan in the fields of poetry, presentation, writing, speaking and drama categories.
Each year, about 15,000 students from around the world prepare for the Olympiads, but only the finalists who win national competitions are invited to attend the huge international competition in Turkey. This year's competition, which will run from May 30-June 14, will predominantly be held in Ankara and İstanbul, but there will also be activities in 41 other Turkish cities.
The competition will see gold medals given to the top 10 individuals, silver medals given to the top 10 percent of competitors and bronze medals given to the top 30 percent of competitors. Cash prizes will also be presented with the gold medal winners receiving 1,000 US Dollars each, the silver medalists will receive 750 US Dollars and bronze medalists will receive 500 USD.
A giant closing ceremony will be held for the Olympiads at Türk Telekom Arena on June 14, which is expected to draw thousands of people and high-profile personalities.
