Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.
-- Gen. 31:40 (KJV)
This verse gives us a vivid display of the job description of a shepherd. Not only do they have to deal with wild animals attempting to eat some of the flock, they have to deal with drought, extreme temperatures and lack of sleep.
Learning how to deal with these three things could also help us learn how to be more responsible. We could eat less than what we usually would eat. We could learn to more even-keeled despite whatever the temperature is. We could learn also learn to be less lazy.
Numerical Analysis: The numerical pattern for this verse is 4,8,3,1. (4) To follow God's Word, learn how to maintain at all times. (8) To have a new beginning in God, do not eat as much. (3) To stay in the Spirit, choose to remain warm towards Him. To stay in the anointing, stop being lazy.
