PHILIPPINES VICE PRESIDENT ARRIVES IN MALAYSIA FOR OFFICIAL WORKING VISIT

VICE PRESIDENT JEJOMAR C. BINAY IN NY PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE 2011

27 May 2012 – Philippine Vice President Jejomar C. Binay arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on the evening of May 27 to kick off his Official Working Visit to Malaysia.

On hand to welcome him at the airport at 6:40 p.m. were Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia J. Eduardo Malaya, Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Senator A. Kohillan Pillay, Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dato Sri’ Ibrahim Saad, and other Philippine Embassy and Malaysian officials.

Joining the Vice President’s delegation were Philippine Justice Undersecretary Jose Vicente Salazar, other government officials and a 24-member business delegation.

Vice President Binay has been invited to be the guest of honor and keynote speaker at the Philippines-Malaysia Investment Partnership Forum on May 29, and have meetings with Foreign Minister Dato' Sri Anifah bin Haji Aman and Minister of International Trade and Industry Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed, where they will discuss ways of further advancing Philippine-Malaysian relations.

He will likewise pay a courtesy call on former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad.

“I am confident that my visit to Malaysia will further strengthen the economic and diplomatic ties between our countries. It is an excellent opportunity to bring the good news about the Philippines to the leaders and ranking officials of Malaysia led by the Prime Minister and to their business community,” Vice President Binay said in an earlier statement.
