Pop diva Lady Gaga's concert in Indonesia has been canceled, after Islamic hardliners threatened “unruliness” if she entered the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation, her promoters said Sunday.
Minola Sebayang, lawyer for promoters Big Daddy said that Lady Gaga's management has been considering the situation every minute of it, and with threats if the show goes ahead, so Lady Gaga's side is calling off the concert. He explained that they aren’t only protecting Lady Gaga but also to those who will be watching her.
The hardliner Islamic Defender Front threatened violence if the concert goes ahead and called Lady Gaga as a “devil’s messenger” who wears only a “bra and panties on the stage. Earlier this month, Jakarta police refused approval for the concert.
The promoters had been negotiating to tone down the star’s racy show, but her own management vowed no compromise to mollify religious conservatives or censors.
Michael Rusli, Big Daddy president said it was "unfortunate" that the show had to be canceled. The cancellation is really due to concerns over security.
