Space exploration has come a long way and the successful arrival of SpaceX of billionaireat the International Space Station heralds a new era in Space flight as reported in skynews dated 25th of May 2012.
The desire to conquer Space probably began in 1957 with the sending of a Russian dog Laika, into Space in the Sputnik followed by the Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin’s journey in 1961 in Vostok as the first man in Space.
Then was the all important event of man’s first landing on the Moon in 1969 in the form of three American astronauts , Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins in their Apollo 11.
Space exploration is now on the threshold of still greater things and is getting commercialized – the unmanned SpaceX is the newest concept.
It intends to rid the NASA research teams of worries connected with routine and repetitive jobs like ferrying astronauts to and from the ISS or of sending supplies to replenish stocks in the ISS.
NASA should now be able to concentrate on the new frontier of conquering Mars, the Red Planet.
