It is observed that General Colin Powell doesn’t support any presidential bet but as Paul Stanley reported, “Colin Powell on Same-Sex Marriage: I Have No Problem With It.” This equates to supporting the candidacy of re-election presidential candidate Barack Obama. This spelled clearly where the former Secretary of State placed himself in this year’s U.S presidential polls. The Four Star General simply plays with the beauty of language communications.
Formerly, being Chairman of the Chiefs of Staffs during the Clinton Administration, General Powell was point man in the implementation of the ban on homosexuals to openly serve in the U.S military. The general must have had been marked for “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” but that was long time ago. However, the Americans particularly the gay still have fresh memories on such job of the general.
The American public must have heard loud and clear support on gay marriage of General Powell. Will this support on same-sex marriage mean votes for Obama? Or will this eventually mean Secretary Powell’s support for President Obama? This shows how the general has changed over time.
Obviously, the general is seeking ways and means on throwing his support for President Obama.
Granting Powell’s support for Obama is cloaked in gay marriage with “I Have No Problem With It”, American voters knew and still reading the general’s accomplishments during the Clinton and Bush administrations.
There are two things that may transpire out of Powell’s subscription on gay marriage or as a whole support for Obama. It may be translated into Obama votes as well as may be just spoiled ballots.
