Skooter reporting 05/24/12
This is what I describe a ‘dog’s true love’ or 'for better or for worse, tell death do us part'. We have here a tear-jerking photo of a male pit bull refusing to leave the side of a female pit bull that lay dead on the side of a Phoenix road.
It was reported that the female pit bull seemed to have been hit by a car on Friday. For more than 14 hours, would you believe that the male pit bull stayed by her side. Good Lord, the male pit bull wouldn’t leave her, so a nearby business set out food and water.
Fox 10 reported that the grieving dog stayed with her cuddling her and lying nearby until the city animal control removed her Saturday morning, 14.5 hours later. It was said that the dogs did not carry owner tags when they were found.
Rodrigo, an animal control official said that they picked up this other dog and took him to their East Valley shelter. The dog was being observed for any behavioral or health problem and Silva said, it doesn’t look like he has. Only that the dog was a little withdrawn and appears to be very sad, he added.
And if the dog continues to show these signs of withdrawal they will place him in a recovery home that can help him with his grieving, Silva told the Daily Mail.
Karyn Aspan who lives in Chicago told Fox 10 that she was so outraged when she saw the photo on Facebook and wrote on her wall, “Animal control responded 14.5 hours later.” She called the Phoenix mayor’s office to complain and launched a Facebook campaign to find a home for the dog.
