Two little girls, not yet old enough to go to a nursery school, were shot to death. Their infant sister was found suffocated. The three children were discovered in a burning house, including their 26-year-old mother who also suffered a gunshot wound
On Wednesday, authorities had presumed that it was a murder-suicide at the Salem home on Tuesday. They also said that 80 miles to the south, they found the children’s father dead in a car and is considered a person of interest in the killings but his name was not available.
When firefighters put the burning home under control, they discovered the bodies of infant Sefi Lazukin, 1-year-old Zoe Lazukin, 3-year-old Angelica Lazukin and the children's mother, Natalya Lazukin.
The murder weapon has not been found yet in the house, authorities believe the fire was set intentionally.
Salem, the state capital, is about 50 miles south of Portland.
Meanwhile, a quarter mile north of the house, another person was found lifeless on a street. He was identified as 21-year-old Devin Matlock of Salem. He died of blunt force trauma, or he received two deadly blows to the head, authorities said.
Salem police Lt. Dave Okada said, the young man’s death was not linked to the murder-suicide investigation. It was reported that Matlock was playing video games at a friend’s house the night he died and left the place on foot at about 2 a.m. said his friend Matt Wujcik.
