Following a gunfight erupted in the border state of Tamaulipas; at least three prisoners are reported dead while six others ended up with severe injuries. The state officials said that incident occurred in the violent northern Mexico city of Reynosa, inside a prison.
According to a statement issued by head of state police and the state attorney-general, the fight erupted Wednesday in the late afternoon hours. Responding to the reports of said gunfight, the state officials entered the cellblock; only to find two prisoners already dead while seven others wounded.
The statement further revealed that though the injury victims were immediately shifted to hospital for treatment, one of them later succumbed to his injuries and died. No further details on the incident were released in the statement accept that the order in the prison was restored by soldiers, assisted by federal police.
Meanwhile, it was ensured that no prisoner(s) could escape the facility during the deadly gunfight resulting in three deaths. Unfortunately, corruption and violence have become pretty common practices in most of the prisons in Mexico City. Just in the month of February this year, 44 inmates were killed in a gang fight alone, taking place in the Nuevo Leon state.
