In the end, it was the 'white guy with a guitar' that won America's hearts, as Philip Phillips beat out Jessica Sanchez to take the crown as "American Idol winner" for its 11th season with a record breaking 132 million votes pouring in. Phillips can't help to be emotional as Ryan Seacrest handed the Idol trophy to him, especially when he sang his original winning song 'Home' on the stage that ultimately brought him down into tears.

In the third round of Idol finale both Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips performed an original song that would be single in their future albums as the new American Idol winner. Positive reviews are pouring in for 21-year old alternative rocker from Leesburg, Georgia after his finale song, "Home".
Phillips said on performing his own original song told MTV News, "I wanted to do my own stuff, but we only had a certain amount of time to do everything, so I had to do that one, and it's a really good song," he said. "The writers are really good. It's not really something I would write, so I'm excited to get my own stuff out there."
Meanwhile Sanchez rendition on 'Change Nothing' Tuesday night's Idol finale competition, just might not be the right song for her as it fell flat from the both judges, later on it was the deciding factor on winning the competition.

Phillips was always a solid frontrunner all season, having never appeared in the bottom three of fan voting. A blog back in January already predicting the usual suspect Phillips as the season 11 American Idol winner when he first stepped at the Savannah, Georgia audition.
