Former Secretary Colin Powell as one of the biggest whisperers to his boss President George W. Bush of existence of weapons of mass destruction (WMD} then, Saddam Hussein had allegedly amassed in Iraq. Powell cannot openly pronounce support for either President Barack Obama or Mitt Romney because because of such previous performance. However, General Powell supported Obama in 2008.
Americans knew very well General Powell’s accomplishments as a soldier, general during former President George H.W. Bush and as secretary during President George W. Bush. However, American voters must have highlighted Powell’s accomplishments during his stint as State Secretary to former President Bush, Jr.
American electorates must have sensed and knew that General Powell gave most of the faltering whispers about Iraq’s WMD which prompted President Bust to wage war against Iraq.
Concerning Jacob Heilbrunn’s question - Will Colin Powell Back Romney or Obama? This writer joins outside observers and shares with the general feeling that it would be better for the good general not to publicly pronounce support for anyone of the presidential candidates.
Powell to withhold support for anyone of them will promote the national general interest of America. This will avoid factionalism and fragmentation of the Americans.
Nevertheless, General Powell must vote for one of them on November 06, 2012
