This is a bizarre tale if ever there was one about a mother forcing her own 11-year old daughter to go shoplifting in the Old Navy convenience store as reported in mailonline dated 23rd of May 2012.
The 49-year old mother of Detroit along with her daughter and two other accomplices in the form of a 61-year old woman and an 8-year old boy entered the Old Navy store in Troy, Michigan at 8 pm – and spread out to different sections.
The leader had instructed them to go on filling their bags and assemble outside in the car park.
But – the store detectives caught the girl and the older woman.
The girl had goods worth $123.95 in her bag – these consisted of baby clothes, women’s shirts and jewellery.
The girl was taken to the police station and the mother was contacted but she refused to come and get her daughter released from the custody of the police.
The mother is now facing charges of retail fraud, child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
