Former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Dutse, Jigawa State, in about 3days ago said the current state of insecurity in the country is due to a monotonous style of bad governance at all levels.
This was stated in a symposium on Security, Governance and Leadership, arranged by the Jigawa State Government to mark the 5th anniversary of Sule Lamido as governor of the state, the former president said that governance and security lies togother and as also the welfare and well-being of the people based solely on the government.
He said: “The insecurity in Nigeria is as due to misappropriation and high percentage of bugetted national resources that was used for the procurement of military hardware and maintenance of large military forces in the hope of promoting physical security at the expense of quality of living for the citizens”. Until recently, the greatest course of anxiety in the measures of personal security is violence and bombing of targets in occupied public buildings or in the open areas where people congregate has become the problem of personal security for every Nigerians and non-Nigerians living in Nigeria'.and this resulted in giving us a bad image, it is also adversely affecting investment prospects in the country".
The former president apeal for collective efforts to ensure the strong and reliable security in the country, sugesting to the people to shun all forms of violence in other for peace to be in the country and at all levels in the states
