Johnny Depp, the Hollywood actor of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ fame has been adopted by a Comanche woman and is now an honorary member of the Comanche tribe as reported in The Telegraph dated 23rd of May 2012.

LaDonna Harris, the Comanche Nation tribal member has confirmed that the tribal chairman had presented Depp with a proclamation to that effect at her Albuquerque home on the 16th of May 2012 May 16. Depp had participated in the ceremony as informed by his spokesperson.

As per the prevalent Comanche adoption tradition, Depp is now deemed to be her son!!

Just to satisfy the curiosity of readers - the Comanche Nation is based in Lawton, Oklahoma and nearly half of its 15,000 members reside in southwestern Oklahoma.

Johnny Depp is presently in New Mexico engaged in the shooting of the new version of the movie ‘The Lone Ranger’ – he is in the role of the Native American sidekick Tonto.

This role had been portrayed by Jay Silverheels in the original 1956 version of 'The Lone Ranger'.
