It’s the grand finale on “Dancing with the Stars” and the final three couples have one more dance for judge’s scores before the winner is revealed; but before the winner is announced the eliminated dancers return for one last performance.
The night of dancing opens with a performance from all of the dancers featuring the pros of “Dancing with the Stars”.
The final encore performance of the season was what head judge Len Goodman called one of the best ever – the rootin’ tootin’ fig Newton Country Freestyle from Donald and Peta.returned to the ballroom to perform the song.
The first season 14 alum to return to the dance floor wasand Val Chmerkivskiy – with a little help from the boys in the troupe and a few pros – for a performance to “It’s Raining Men”, including men falling from the sky.
Martina Navratalova returns to dance with Tony Dovolani. Singer Jack Wagner and his partner Anna Trebunskaya perform next.
Gavin DeGraw returns with Karina Smirnoff to perform his nautical dance; this time with a little assist from girls in the troupe.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Gladys Knight returns with partner Tristan MacManus to dance to “Best of My Love”.
Jallel White and Kym Johnson return to perform the one routine, he didn’t get the chance to do – the Paso Doble to the theme from “Shaft”. Jaleel and Kym were joined by some of the DWTS Troupe members.
TV starperformed her trio dance with the brother Chmerkovskiy – partner Maks and Val.
Disney star Roshon Fagen and Chelsie returned to perform a dance they wanted to do – the Freestyle.
Grammy Award winning singerrocked the ballroom with a medley of her new single “Dark Side” and her hit song “Stronger”.
Maria and Derek return to the ballroom and reprise their perfect Tango.
Time for the final performances. The couples chose the style of dance but were given the song only 24 hours prior to having to perform the dance.
First up were William and Cheryl with a Salsa that brought out the smiles from the judges. Len Goodman said that if the Salsa and rhythm were in the Olympics, William would win the gold medal. Len noted that William received more 10s from him over the season because William deserved it. Bruno said the dance was hot, saucy, sexy, and spicy; adding that hips don’t lie and nobody does it better. Carrie Ann called the pair team fuago; adding that William had true star quality. Carrie Ann called William the Salsa king. William and Cheryl earned a perfect score of 30 points for their Salsa and a total of 89 points.
Katherine and Mark performed a Jive to “Splish Splash”. Bruno said that Katherine has versatility, great technique, performance range, a wonderful competitor, and a stunning dancer. Carrie Ann called Katherine a brilliant dance and thanked her for setting the bar so high this season and providing some excellent dances. Len said Katherine had the complete package. Katherine and Mark scored their third perfect score in the finals for a total of 90 points.
The final performance of the season was a Cha Cha from Donald and Peta. Before performing the routine, Donald took off his shirt/vest and gave it to Carrie Ann. Carrie Ann called Donald a fierce competitor and she could see his love for the show; Carrie Ann announced that she thought Donald was the one to beat. Len started out by saying that no one is a loser; adding that they have had some great footballers on the show but Donald was the best they’ve had. Bruno called it another massive hit from Donald the Magnificent; adding that Donald had the strategy of a champion. Donald and Peta made it unanimous by scoring a perfect 30 for their last dance; that gave Donald and Peta a total of 89 points.
Award winning singer Gladys Knight returned to the dance floor, but this time to sing “The Way We Were” as clips from the past season played behind her and the final three couple looked on.

Donald now has a mirrorball trophy to go alongside his Super Bowl win. Peta Murgatroyd joined the cast of DWTS last season and in only her second season won her first championship.
