
The 634-meters tall Tokyo Skytree is the tallest tower in the world and snatched the glory from China which had, till now, boasted about its Canton Tower which was 600-meters tall.
Tokyo Skytree has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s tallest tower as reported in ibnlive.in.com dated 22nd of May 2012.
Reports indicate that nearly 8000 visitors would take the high-speed elevators to reach the top and stare down at the ground below from the observation deck through a haze of clouds.
People had to wait in queue for a whole week to get the admission tickets.
The Burj Khalifa in Dubai at a height of 828-meters continues to be the tallest structure in the world but, that is a skyscraper while the Tokyo Skytree is a tower and does not fall in the category of skyscrapers.
