French fashion designer Roland Mouret presented his stunning Roland Mouret A/W 2012 collection at the Audi Fashion Festival Closing Show, held today Sunday May 20, 2012 at the Tent@Orchard in Singapore.
In Singapore for the first time at the invitation of his long-time friend and mentor, Colin McDowell, who is also the Creative Director of Audi Fashion Week, Roland Mouret was barely getting over his jet-lag but put on a fantastic show, rolling out his sartorial hits with just about enough time to do a bit of a rehearsal. It paid off…
Using a subdued color pallete with beiges, greys, powder blue and animal prints, the Roland Mouret collection primarily focuses on the skirt suit, adding touches of fur to round things off for the autumnal season.
In particular, the powder blue skirt suit with black lining or underside, shoulder tucks, big boxy pockets with overflaps and broad belt was stunning in its design and degree of novelty in the details. That boxy pocket, broad fabric belt and shoulder tucks are featured throughout the collection
A similarly cut skirt suit gets a cheetah print treatment, which the model teamed with cream-colored over-the-ankle boots. The cheetah print dress was also pretty awesome as paired with the black knee-length boots.
Touches of fluffy grey fur are also used by designer Roland Mouret throughout this collection to great effect!
Another very lovely possibility is the long-sleeved grey dress with floral pattern in the weave, which the model accessorized with black pumps and ankle socks which cleverly gave the effect of booties.
Speaking in an interview at the show, Mouret claimed that he was re-establishing his label and wants to have a “world focus” for his work henceforth.
Mouret feels that it’s extremely important to “understand all of the world,” adding that times have changed and he has to “embrace the whole world. You have to think of the world as one.” Well said Monsieur Mouret!
