Hollywood’s two of the most comically gifted actresses, Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are teaming up to star in director Paul Feig’s latest project, whose name is yet to be announced. For now, all we know is that it’s a “buddy cop” movie and fans should start gearing up to have their sides split.
As if the two were less hilarious alone, the famous “Bridesmaid” director has decided to put the duo together in his newest work that is scheduled to begin filming this summer. The film will revolve around the tense working relationship between the “high strung FBI agent” played by Bullock and the “unconventional Boston cop” – McCarthy. The two work together to catch a Russian mobster, according to an exclusive report by Variety.
With Bullock and McCarthy together, we have a feeling that this is going to be the best duo of the year. While mostly a male actor such as Mark Wahlberg or Will Ferrel comes to mind when talking of a cop movie, we are forgetting that Bullock has already got experience of playing a cop in her famous 2000 film, Miss Congeniality which is definitely going to be a plus for her.
While the film is still untitled and the script is still not complete, the studio and producers have finally been able to fight back obstacles in deciding the schedule for shooting and the standard upfront fees for Feig, McCarthy and Bullock. Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping have been named the producers for Chernin Entertainment, while Feig will ex produce the pic and studio exec Daria Cercek will be collaborating with 20th Century Fox for its distribution. The script for McCarthy and Bullock's project is being written by Katie Dippold, a staff writer on NBC's Parks and Recreation.
Besides this new project, Oscar winning actress for “the Blindside”, Sandra Bullock will next star in Alfonso Cuaron‘s sci-fi film, “Gravity”, which is slated for release some time later this year or the next. McCarthy, Oscar nominee for Feig’s “Bridesmaid” is currently working on her hit CBS series, “Mike and Molly” while staring in Seth Gordon’s Universal Comedy, “Identity Thief”. Mc Carthy will also be seen in Judd Apatow’s comedy, “This is 40” in December. Feig is busy focusing on his next big film, the English Remake of the French hit, “The Untouchables” which will be opening this fall.
