Although the two latest entrants to royalty are thousands of miles apart, yet they both seem to have an uncanny similarity in their life’s trajectory, including having similar sounding names viz., Catherine and Charlene. It’s almost as if they are mirror images of each other.
Well, one is talking about Duchess of Cambridge and Monaco’s Princess Charlene. The gorgeous royal consorts despite being born in different parts of the world have both faced a bumpy journey from being a commoner to becoming a royal family member in 2011.
It is no major surprise that Duchess Kate was chosen to welcome Princess Charlene at the Queen’s Jubilee lunch for world’s sovereign monarchs on Friday (May 18) at Windsor Castle. In all probability, may have been asked by Queen Elizabeth herself, to do the needful.
After all, by now Catherine is considered the most dependable person by hubby Prince William’s grandma, someone who would not bungle up at social dos. The Queen’s confidence in her grand-daughter-in-law is pretty obvious from her presence at all Diamond Jubilee events right from the start of the tour in Leicester.
At the luncheon party thrown by Queen Elizabeth for world royals, Duchess Kate had worn an elegant pink £1,200 made-to-measure Emilia Wickstead coat, which fell in perfect pleats from waist downwards. Like her stylish English counterpart, Princess Charlene too prefers classic but modern fashion. She had also chosen a pastel coat, though hers was sea green.
The similarity does not end just at the two royals’ taste in clothes; they also share similar interests and hobbies. While Princess Charlene is a former Olympic swimmer, Duchess Kate is an ardent sportswoman. She was the captain of the hockey team at her high school - Malborough College.
The two beautiful women are also seriously involved in children’s charities. The royal consort from Monaco was also part of the congregation when Kate Middleton tied the knot with Prince William. Shortly thereafter Princess Charlene too married Prince Albert in a similar magnificient nuptial in Monte Carlo.
At the Queen’s Jubilee lunch while the two caught up with their lives, their other halves too enjoyed an amiable chat. It would be an occasion both the commoner princesses will cherish for the easy camaraderie they shared with each other.
