
Chicago Illiinois. Chicago Cubs right handed pitcher Kerry Wood is expected to retire from pitching in the Major Leagues after playing 13 seasons after the Chicago Cubs play a baseball game against their crosstown rival Chicago White Sox on Friday.
The reports of Wood retirement came from the Chicago Cubs website. Wood was the first pick by the Chicago Cubs in the 1995 Major League Baseball draft. Wood has pitched both as a starter and reliever for the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees.
Wood this baseball season has no wins and two losses in nine games pitched and an earned run average of 8.64.
Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster said "I hope he goes out there and finishes on a great note. He's been a great friend and a great teammate and a great Chicago Cub.
