War-Talk Games: 'Obama slams Syria intervention, can change mind'

Russia has been at odds with the Western powers over the best way to manage the ongoing violence in Syria, which has led to killing of more then 90,000 people over the last few years.

Moscow, along with Beijing, has so far vetoed two anti-Syria resolutions, saying a solution to the Syrian crisis must be sought through political dialogue.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev warned on Thursday that military action against sovereign states could lead to a regional nuclear war.

Nuclear-armed Russia has said publicly that it is under no obligation to protect Syria if it is attacked, and analysts and diplomats say Russia would not get involved in military action if Iran were attacked.
