Wind, thunderstorm pummel Pakistan town, six killed

ISLAMABAD, May 17: Gales of wind accompanied with thunderstorm pummeled Multan, a town in Pakistani province of Punjab, on Thursday, killing six persons and injuring scores of others.

The residents informed that heavy showers with strong gusts of winds blowing at speed of over 100km per hr whipped roofs of mud houses in various localities, uprooting trees and snapping communication and power system.

The thunderstorm pounded orchids of mangoes, the famous fruit of the area, causing heavy damage.

A couple of females were crushed to death when walls of their houses collapsed under the strong pressure of wind and thunderstorm.
