Forbes has announced Jennifer Lopez as the most powerful celebrity in the list of 100 most powerful celebrities based on parameters like earnings, press coverage and presence in the internet as reported in The Australian dated 17th of May 2012.

She was at the 50th position last year and, this year, she has dislodged Lady Gaga from the perch – Lady Gaga was the No. 1 in 2011. This year she is at No. 5.

Jennifer Lopez’s acting and singing career had taken a beating but, she succeeded as a judge in the American Idol. Then there was resurgence in marketing her music apart from endorsement of products.

Also, her divorce from Marc Anthony helped her grab media attention and boost her ranking.

All these factors helped boost her popularity and, with it, her power.

Others in the top five bracket this year are Oprah Winfrey, Television presenter at No. 2 position, teen heartthrob Justin Bieber at 3rd and singer Rihanna at 4th.
