As U.S. President Barack Obama congratulated British soccer player David Beckham and his teammates on the Los Angeles Galaxy at the White House on Tuesday, he poked fun at one of the sports’ biggest star saying "It is a rare man who can be that tough on the field and also have his own line of underwear," ABS-CBN News said.

Obama also joked about Beckham’s age, drawing a hearty laugh from the audience, when he said with a big smile "I have to say I gave David a hard time - I said half his teammates could be his kids. We're getting old David, although you're holding up better than me."

Beckham became even more popular when he landed endorsement deals showing off his body in underwear ads for H&M, Adidas and Pepsi.

At age 37, having a good number of years on most of the members of his team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, Beckham played beautifully with LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane to defeat the Houston Dynamo last November making good on his promise to win the 2011 Major League Soccer Cup.
