Sir Tom Jones is of the opinion that as a couple the British royals Prince William and Duchess Catherine (former Kate Middleton) have got the 'ingredients' to succeed in a marriage.
Now Tom Jones opinion must be give due weight-age considering the fact that the ‘What’s New Pussy Cat?' singer’s marriage has lasted more than half a century. Sir Tom Jones and wife Melinda have been married to each other for 55 years.
Jones, goes on to disclose that he felt Prince William and Kate’s wedding at London's Westminster Abbey in April 2011 was like a 'fairytale' and opines that the royal couple will go on to have a durable and joyous life together.
'The wedding really was a fairytale and the fact it was so popular worldwide shows how much our royals affect people,’ declared Jones.
According him, people all over were affected by the pomp and grandeur of the occasion. However, ‘it was great to see two lovely young people in love. You can never know if a marriage will last, but they've got the ingredients to succeed,' he surmised.
Tom also reveals that he has met Queen Elizabeth before. At that point, he says like a truant school boy, he was scared that she may dispatch him off to the Tower of London, when he revealed that he lived in Los Angeles, not in Britain.
To quote him: 'Before one of the Royal Variety Performances, she asked me I liked living in America. I said I only lived there because it was more convenient, rushing my words out as if Her Majesty could still send me to the Tower!'
