A mother in Florida killed her four children and later shot herself to death on Tuesday morning.
A mother is supposed to look after her children, nurture them and protect them from harm, so when an incident occurs in which the mother kills her own children, it seems highly unnatural. In a latest tragic incident which took place in Florida, a mother of four killed all her children before shooting herself to death. The incident took place on Tuesday morning as the Brevard County, Fla., deputies closed in on the woman's Port St. John home, according to authorities. The woman was identified as Tonya Thomas, 35. She had four children, who were identified as Pebbles Johnson, 17, Jaxs Johnson, 15, Jazlin Johnson, 13 and Joel Johnson, 12.
According to the details gathered so far, Tonya Thomson sent a warning text to her friend before shooting herself and her children, but by the time her friend read the text, she had carried out her plan. When Tonya Thomas shot her first child, he was just wounded and he, along with his other three siblings, ran off to their neighbor's house for safety. The neighbor had been awakened by the sound of the gunfire, but he could do little to help those children, as their mother calmly called them back. The neighbor called 911 as the children left his home.
When the deputies arrived at the woman's house, they found Pebbles Johnson lying in the front yard of the house. A person was spotted at the front door, but he or she quickly ducked behind the door and wasn't seen again. Pebbles was declared dead when she was transferred to an ambulance.
When a SWAT team arrived, gunshots were heard inside the house. The team entered the house through a back sliding door and found Tonya Thomas' body along with the remaining three children's sprawled on the floor. Upon checking it was confirmed that they were all dead.
The father of the children has been informed about the multiple deaths.
According to Tonya Thomas' friend who had received the text from her, she requested that she be cremated with all her children with her.
A motive for the killing has still not been uncovered, but the investigations are going on.
